May Bell Queen by Slingerland19 fret Tenor Banjo Vintage for sale in Fairport, NY
Hi, I have for sale a nice vintage banjo by Slingerland. It is a 19 fret tenor banjo in good vintage condition. The headstock is marked May Bell Queen. The head is in good shape with no rips or tears that I can see. The bridge is unmarked and old and has a small shim of wood under it, probably to raise it just a bit. The action seems good though. The strings are new D'addario. The dowel stick is marked Slingerland MFRS. Chicago USA. The tailpiece is marked with an early patent date that I can't quite make out. The nut looks to be bone, and the tuners appear to be original to the banjo. They seem to work OK for their age. This banjo does have a tone ring that seems to be perhaps 1/4" in size. Everything else appears to be pretty good and the banjo sounds nice when played. Two of the brackets do have replaced nuts, and I had to replace a small section of the edge of the pot that was missing. I used a dark walnut and it worked fairly well. It doesn't look like this banjo ever had a resonator. This banjo is about 33" in length and the head is about 11" across. It doesn't have a case, but will be packed very carefully for safe arrival. I am selling this banjo as is, with no returns. Please keep this in mind when purchasing. I am happy to answer any questions you have, and I am happy to combine shipping on multiple purchases. Thanks so much for taking a look!
